2008-09 year in review-athletics

Well fans, its hard to believe that yet, another school year is in the books. Beebe High's first year in the 5A Southeast was a smashing success. Here is a list of the sports and how the Badgers did in each sport. I think its safe to say that if there was a team of the year for the conference, it would have to be the Beebe Badgers.

Football- Conference runner up/State quarterfinalist
Baseball- 3rd place in conference/State quarterfinalist
Softball- Conference champions/State quarterfinalist
Boys basketball- 4th place in conference/5A 1st round
Girls basketball- Conference champions/State semifinalist
Cross Country- 10th place in state meet
Tennis- 9 out of 12 qualify for state tournament
Volleyball- 4th place in conference/5A 1st round
Wrestling- 5th overall in state meet/three Badger wrestlers win state individual championships for their weight class.
Boys track- Conference runner up/State meet qualifier
Girls track- Conference champions/State meet qualifier
Boys golf- Conference champions/State tournament
Girls golf- Conference champions/State tournament

For the record, five, count em, five Beebe High teams won conference championships and two more teams were conference runner ups. In addition, three teams advanced to the state quarterfinals in their respective sports and one team advanced to the state semifinals. Lastly, three individuals won state championships as far as an individual sport/meet goes. I'd say that's pretty darned good. Way to go Badgers!!!!
